Spring 2013 is Almost Here: Scallop Hem Top

When I got home on Sunday after a weekend chock full of skiing and adventure, it felt like springtime which inspired Tuesday's work outfit: a buttercup yellow top with a girly scallop hem (I have this same shirt in navy too… it's one of those shirts that fits perfectly so I'm hoping Ann Taylor makes it in more colors).
Top: Ann Taylor // Pant: J. Crew // Shoes: Me Too (via TJ Maxx)
iPhone Case: Kate Spade // Gold Monogrammed Necklace: Initial Reaction
Earrings: J. Crew (outlet) // Lips: NARS "Schiap"

I previously believed that yellow is a color I should avoid at all costs because in case you haven't noticed, I have a very fair complexion, but I think the shocking pink lip helps direct the clash elsewhere… at least that's my excuse for buying a bright yellow scallop hem top.

Mini updates:

  • Half marathon update: I need to run more… the race is less than 2 weeks away… EEK! I have not done a 10 miler yet… I blame it on the snow.

  • Also, I just signed up for a casual French class in Boston… it was a living social coupon so I couldn't pass it up and I cannot wait! Check it out here if you're interested or curious…

Do you have any colors you think are unflattering but you wear them anyway?? Leave a comment below or tweet me @PoodleShoeGirl  which also happens to be my instagram and vine name too :)

  2. I'm fair skinned as well and I wear a lot of yellow. I guess I didn't really think about how it made my skin look...haha. Love the scallops on that blouse!

  3. Good luck with your training and the French class! French is so fun, though I haven't taken any since I was a little kid, sadly. Your top is really cute, and won the approval of my fashion-hating roommate (she loves yellow a toooon). It looks good on you!

As for me...I think I look awful in white and pastels, but I sometimes wear white anyways. I don't think I actually own any pastels, other than a pink vest, but I always wear that with black, so it works out. I also don't look that good in certain shades of yellow, so I'm very particular about that.

  5. I love Ann Taylor! They usually carry great tops that fit so well. Anyway, I thought for the longest time that I couldn't pull off emerald green, but since it's a popular color, I figured I give it a try. So far I like it, but I add lighter colors to it as well. Right now I'm wearing a bright yellow blouse with emerald trousers. So far I've gotten a couple compliments on my morning commute. Not bad........ Off topic, I enjoy your blog and instagram!
